V10 new feature Heat Maps

V.10 Software Update - This is the BIG ONE!

Greetings all,

We're super excited to announce the release of Version 10 of the Matter and Form THREE software!

This one is HUGE! There are four huge new features, a ton of quality of live improvements, and, of course, some big bug fixes.

Without further ado, let's get into it:

Feature #1 - Point to Point Measurement

Metrology is very hard and complicated, and there are many amazing software packages out there that help professionals in the metrology field. But for the rest of us, a simple measurement tool can come in very handy. So to save the headache of importing your scans into cloud compare, we've added a simple point to point measurement feature so you can take rough measurements of your scans.

To use the feature, click on the measurement tool on the left, and then simply click where you want to measure.

Feature #2 - Copy Scans

You can now duplicate any scan or group using the duplicate scan button beside the garbage button below your scan list. This is helpful if you have a complicated part that you want to split into multiple parts without rescanning.

This one came straight from the feature requests by our users (Thanks Jordan C! ).

Feature #3 - Upload 3D Files

It's now possible to upload any 3D file back into the project. If you want to take a scan from a different project or perhaps upload an original CAD model, you can now do that right in the software.

Simply click the import button (beside "Create Group") to import any STL, PLY, OBJ, DAE, FBX, GLTF or more. Zip files are accepted.

Feature #4 - Heat Map Comparison

We've been working with a commercial partner on this feature for a while, and thought we should share it with everyone in software.

Do you want to see the difference between a manufactured part and the original STL? Well now you can, by using the heat map function. This function shows the difference between any two files in an intuitive and insightful way. Red areas (hot) are the farthest away, while blue (cold) is the closest. Use the slider to adjust the deviation in the colours.

To use this feature, click the measurement tool, then click the heat map comparison button. Just don't forget to align your files first!

So What Do You Think??

We’re thrilled to bring these updates to our community and can’t wait to see how you use them to push your creativity and projects to the next level.

Happy scanning!

Unfortunately I cannot use the THREE SCANNER due to very poor internet in this area. I didn’t know I couldn’t use it without. Looks like I’ll have to go back to my V2.
