I posted some of these on the kickstarter page, but copying here with some additional requests!
Old requests:
I second the screen space paint select tool.
It would also be nice if one could leave it in select mode and still manipulate the scan, say with a Space Mouse or similar.
Thanks for the input Jordan and Andrew,
I have these in our feature requests. FYI, the next release will be bug focused and wont contain any of these new features (1/2 the team was on summer vacation after the launch). But I'll push these up the priority list for a future release.
Would you rather these features, or improved Texturing? Please let me know
just adding my post which was formerly on the kickstarter page for my feature requests.. moving them to the new forum for visibility only :) (my original post might have been a bit unclear what i was asking, i do that) All of the below is for situations while at the three unit, with no phone or computer screen nearby and the desire to not get exercise by walking back to the computer to check the screen.
While aligning the object at the turntable or general scans, some visible way to identify the corners of what the cameras see, and center point (or even better, the focus point) for a short period of time rather than just the solid ilumination light would be helpful.
If you want to get really fancy, a way to visibibly indicate via the three projector that the small calibration card is detected fully and aligned enough to start turntable scan. (have had some times where I thought the card was aligned, but not close enough to get solid overlay on the computer of the corners of the card. (bouncy corners, or i was totally not even aligned for calibration at all)
if i were to vote on Jordans features or improved texturing, i would probably say "go for the quickest turn-around on the above list for production value first. I would like it to be improved texturing but if the other features are easier to implement even if not pretty, I would certainly appreciate those for getting better scans/information out of the unit.
also, forgot the "other" feature request -- it actually is more likely a physical product request.
An adapter to use PoE+ 802.3AT midspan injector like the Microsemi PD-9501GR/AC for both data and power capabilities. (or higher poe++ class 802.3BT variant PD-9601G / 55v 95 watt. )
That AT model is discontinued but output is 55v 1.1amp which would need to be stepped down to 12v 5amp.
I work in an industry where PoE products are commonplace. I realize its not so common everywhere yet but i love just running one ethernet cable with an adapter/harness to keep the power/ethernet link connected.
@Brad Willman Hi Brad.
What I have done for the center point, is to 3D print a mount for an inexpensive laser pointer that attaches to the THREE. The mount also includes a recess for a digital angle meter for leveling.
@Tom Meeks i love that idea :) especially the leveling angle meter spot.
Thanks. The receptical rotates 90 degrees so I can check the angle in two directions. It works very well. And, the tools are extremely inexpensive on Amazon.
@Andrew McNeill I second the SpaceMouse support! Though I'm not sure if it's even possible for a webapp to take advantage of it. I use mine for all my 3D programs though and would definitely love it here.
Same - I've become a SpaceMouse junkie over the years to the point I have one for use at my employers and one for home. I even tried to get it working in Fortnite😆 (to no avail).
It would be enough for me if the keyboard shortcuts worked at all =D the only one that works for me is square select and undo. Ideally if it could all be binded to any buttons, maybe even the mouse. It would make editing a lot easier. Also, it would be nice to be able to use the mouse scroll wheel for all the sliders for example for more precise and faster adjustments.
@Tom Meeks a projector inside the scanner could also be used for center point. I have a film projector and it can project a calibration pattern to center it against the screen.
